Hij constateert dat ‘mensen in toenemende mate de dogma’s van de kerken en religies zullen opgeven en zoeken naar de levende ervaring’, maar ontzegt deze ervaring normatieve waarde. Zijn alternatief: de bijbel als norm, werkt hij uit in II, maar dit blijft vrijwel steken in het traditionele. In hoofdzaak gaat K. terug tot vóór Drewermann, Kuitert, Ranke enz.
Dat roept de vraag op naar de betekenis van zulke aangevochten posities voor het afwijzen van ervaringen als subjectieve geloofsbron. Willekeur beluister je wanneer hij zegt: met bepaalde traditionele godsbeelden ‘kun je in deze tijd niet meer leven’. Informatief zijn z’n bespreking van de kritiek op NA van o.m. evangelicale, adventistische en chiliastische zijde en van theologisch-dialogische benaderingen alsmede zijn typeringen van Douven, Klink, Schilder, Stolp, Schelling, Veenhof e.a..
